Muffins In a Microwave...
Blackrook, formerly Legacy Productions, is estimated to have been founded in late 2005. The oldest video considered to be a Legacy Production is "Muffins" which was created in July of 2005 shortly after one of the co directors returned from a missions trip to Mexico. The official story of the video's inspiration is as follows.
At some point during the trip, a group of youths were
playing the card game known as 'Spoons.' Legacy Production's
founder, Zach, was stealing cards and feeding them to
Dillon, who was playing in the game. Inevitably Dillon and
Zach began laughing. The other players, now suspicious,
inquired as to why they were laughing. Dillon quickly calmed
himself down and proceeded to tell a joke... "Ok... So two
muffins were in a microwave and one muffin said to the
other, 'It's getting hot in here.' Then the other turns and
says, 'Ahh, a talking muffin!'" This brilliant cover up was
the inspiration for the video which was made a few weeks
later.
Warning: Children With Cameras...
Many months after its release of "Muffins," Legacy
returned with two more videos in May of 2006. The first of
these was "Scary Movie V," a short parody featuring Grant,
Chris, and a Curious George puppet. Soon after came "LOST:
Desmond's story." This video, based on the television
series, "Lost," told the story of what really happened when
Desmond first met Kelvin inside the hatch.
South of the Border...
In July of 2006, Legacy Production's founder, Zach, was
once again heading to Mexico. After the success of his video
work the previous year on the trip, he was put in charge of
videos for a sequel, "Mexico: 2006." When the final DVD was
released it featured three bonus videos. "Vocabulary with
Dillon," a short
segment on
invented vocabulary words. "The Tarrah
Wave," a montage of all the video clips containing Tarrah's
famous wave. And "How To Cheat At Spoons," featuring
unscripted footage of Dillon and Zach once again cheating at
Spoons.
The Birth of an Alliteration...
As the academic year of 2006-2007 started, so did another
year of Awana and youth group. With the unprecedented
success of Mexico: 2006, Legacy's founder was put in charge
of weekly videos for each of these. While filming a youth
campfire/barbeque event, Zach and two other youths created
an on the spot mini feature to go with the campfire video.
This black and white 'Keystone Kops' spin off evolved into a
major series featuring the two youths whom had become
instant stars: Cory and Conner.
Cory (colleague and good friend of Legacy's founder) and
Conner (little brother and previous actor of classic Legacy)
immediately began work on "The Worst Job Ever," a remake of
a popular internet video and the second video of what is now
the Cory/Conner series. Following this was "Phonebooking," a
spoof on an unconfirmed Canadian fad.
More and More Projects...
As the new year began so did a myriad of new
opportunities. While continuing the Cory/Conner series in
addition to the regular videos for Awana and Youth Group,
Legacy Productions began work on a series of comedic
promotional videos for George H. Flamson Middle School. At
roughly the same time Legacy was preparing for a single
video of unprecedented proportions...
The Age Of MONK...
In April of 2007 Legacy premiered a production of unprecedented length to a brand new audience. The annual Pierce/Cantrell video project called for a video based upon a work of classic American literature. Thus a massive cast over twice as large as that of any previous production was assembled. The video was completed and turned in to be viewed by sophmores, juniors, and seniors as well. When the awards night was finished the production took home three oscar statuettes, including Pierce's Pick, Best DVD Cover Art, and a surprise award for the starring actor James Hughes for his amazing and accurate portrayal of America's favorite Obsessive Compulsive Detective.
